TJ Kerr

Dipl. of Arch. Tech
Production Manager, Technologist

TJ brings a wealth of experience to his role as a Project Manager, Designer,  and  Architectural Technician with Colbourne & Kembel, Architects Inc. In addition to his educational qualifications in both Science and Technology, he has also had ‘hands-on’ work experience as a carpenter, framer, cabinet maker, and furniture-maker. As a systems tester and computer support technician for the Ministry of Health for five years, TJ expanded his computer skills, and as a freelance photographer, he developed a great eye for design.

TJ’s practical experience, technical understanding, design sensibilities, and ability to work with people have given him a valuable skill set for his role as a project manager.

Any areas of specialization.  I have special interest in heritage preservation and restoration, and have recently been accepted into the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP).

Community Involvement  None, really, unless you count the whisky club I’m a member of…

Fav project and why. (under CKAI)  One of my favourite projects was the Tett Centre for Creativity & Learning. Not only was this a fantastic initiative to rehabilitate an interesting and important heritage site, and a meaningful investment in Kingston’s art community, but it also happens to be in my neighbourhood!  So, it’s a building I visit regularly, attend events at, and walk through with friends & family.  This is a living example for  me of how architecture builds and enhances community.

Any hobbies or family info you wish to share.  I love the outdoors – paddling, cycling, XC skiing – whenever I can.
